March 25, 2025 Town of Hampton, New Hampshire Right to Know Request (NH RSA 91: A): MARCH 11, 2025, Town Election


Per RSA 91-

A:4 IV(c) “IV. (a) Each public body or agency shall, upon request for any governmental record reasonably described, make available for inspection and copying any such governmental record within its files when such records are immediately available for such release.(b) If a public body or agency is unable to make a governmental record available for immediate inspection and copying the public body or agency shall, within 5 business days of a request:(1) Make such record available; (2) Deny the request; or (3) Provide a written statement of the time reasonably necessary to determine whether the request shall be granted or denied and the reason for the delay.(c) A public body or agency denying, in whole or part, inspection or copying of any record shall provide a written statement of the specific exemption authorizing the withholding of the record and a brief explanation of how the exemption applies to the record withheld.”  Chapter 91-A ACCESS TO GOVERNMENTAL RECORDS AND MEETINGS (state.nh.us)


I, Regina Barnes request the following information:

1.   A copy off the absentee ballot reconciliation for the March 11, 2025, Town Election, and

2.   A copy of the March 11, 2025, voter checklist in an excel file.


NOTES:

  • According to town information and/or records provided by the state's Right-to-Know law, The number of absentee ballots ordered for the March election was 2,000.  There were 383 absentee ballot requests, and 323 absentee ballots were received back.  According to the Moderator's Post-Election Certificate & Ballots Cast worksheet, there were 314 absentee ballots cast.

  • The names on the checklist moderator worksheet total were 14,020.  Both the 2023 and 2024 census estimate for Hampton is 16,424.  2,585 in Hampton Beach brings pop total to 19,009.

  • According to the Secretary of State records, at the 2020 general election there were 16,075 names on the checklist and 11,703 ballots cast.  At the 2022 general election there were 12,700 names on the checklist and 9,409 ballots cast. At the 2024 general election there were 14,292 names on the checklist and 10,520 ballots cast.
