NH SPECIAL INTEREST
JANE HAS KEPT MANY OF US ACROSS THE STATE UP-TO-DATE ON HOUSING AND ZONING LEGISLATION COMING FROM CONCORD.
HERE IS THE LASTEST
This is going to be interesting. In the mailer to Bedford Residents and in the CNHT's mailer, I have asked residents to pre-emptively email the House Housing Committee about these bills en masse, instructing them to ITL. There are no hearings scheduled yet, but the more they contact, the better. I am told there is not enough uproar.
SB78 – overrides the rights of your local zoning board.
SB81 – increases the amount of annual real estate transfer tax revenues that are transferred to the affordable housing fund.
SB84 – overrides the rights of your local zoning board to set maximum lot sizes.
SB163 – overrides the rights of your local zoning board.
SB174 – overrides the rights of your local zoning board.
SB188 – allows private entities to serve as code inspectors.
SB281 – allows building on roads not maintained by the towns which is dangerous.
SB284 – overrides the requirement for a certain number of parking spaces per unit.
I am hoping some Reps will call for roll calls.
From the planners list:
This bill won't help housing in the least bit. Murphy has lost his mind. Tim Lang and surprisingly Jim Gray, spoke against it. What is the Housing Supply Coalition the reporter mentioned, another lobbyist group?
Housing bill passes senate in vote that scrambles party lines
Tariff Whiplash and HUD Cuts Will Cripple Affordable Housing Development
This group is pushing all these bills along with AFP-NH and the Builders and Realtors. It's all about money.
This article quoted my Senator from Bedford: “Every zoning change proposed in this bill can already be done at the municipality level, just as towns and cities have done hundreds of times in the past,” said Sen. Denise Ricciardi, a Bedford Republican. Each town or city knows what is best for them. A few politicians that want authoritarian central planning initiated out of Concord do not and cannot know.”
EVENTS!

The meeting is on the second floor of the Court House (facing Court Street), but the entrance is located on Winter Street (the address itself is 33 Winter Street). There is a parking lot behind Citizens Bank directly across the street where you are welcome to park. Take the elevator to the second floor. The meeting room is at the end of the hall.
Note: Matt Mayberry is the lobbyist for the Home Builders Assn. Last week he pulled the race card on me on Facebook. He suggested that I did not want people who 'did not look like me' in my neighborhood and that they should be 'screened' for 'qualifying income' to move to Bedford. This is preposterous. I am surrounded by minorities and my best friends/neighbors are from China. And yes, I had to make a certain income to buy my home back in 1990 like everyone else. We have to buy what we can afford. (What bank doesn't qualify your income to buy ANYTHING?) This was just about an admission that they want to breakup neighborhoods of similar homes, which is counter to keeping property values level.
Also, when it comes to minorities, we have for example, a lovely community of people whose home country is India, right here in Bedford. At least 60 of them signed our original petition.
I am sorry that Matt chose to debase himself like this.
