THE HAMPTON, NEW HAMPSHIRE FIREFIGHTER TURNOUT GEAR/EQUIPMENT CAPITAL RESERVE FUND

POINT OF CLARIFICATION REGARDING THE HFD TURNOUT GEAR CAPITAL RESERVE FUND AND ANNUAL APPROPRIATIONS

The firefighter turnout gear fund was established in 2019 and put forth by the board of selectmen for the 2019 town warrant, Article #17.

The biggest lobbyist for the town to set up the reserve fund for Hampton firefighters and their protective gear / equipment was former Selectman Mary Louise Woolsey. I was right there with her on the importance of this gear, as was the board at that time.

The board unanimously (5-0) agreed to ask the voters to take $200,000 from the Unassigned Fund Balance to get it started. The voters passed it at the 2019 Hampton Town Meeting.
