Sadly, ignorant voters on March 11, 2025 got them passed.
UPDATE FROM NH COALITION OF TAXPAYERS. HAMPTON SELECTMEN, WHERE ARE YOU?
First, we want to thank Kevin Landrigan for exposing the GOP Senators who should be primaried in 2026. They are pushing socialistic one-size-fits-all mandates for our towns.
(Murphy, Sullivan, McGough, McConkey, Pearl, and Carson)
On March 25th, Senate Commerce will hear testimony on HB 577, a bill that could fundamentally change your single family neighborhood into a rental nightmare.
Every town official, including every town manager, planning and zoning board member, town councilor and selectman, along with every one of the 60%-70% of citizens who live in single family zones need to show up in person and demand this bill be killed.
This is but one of 20+ bills that are egregious attack on our single family neighborhoods in NH. The push to urbanize NH is relentless and must be stopped.
Governor Kelly Ayotte needs to pay better attention to any bills she signs for this might be her legacy - "Massing Up NH".
Apparently even the NH Municipal Association (NHMA) agrees.
Zoning should be left local. As a former Hampton selectman, I remember meeting with the Director of the Association on more than one occasion to discuss state housing mandates and how they were a threat to local sovereignty.
Glad to see that the NHMA still seems to be against the worst housing bills and hope they send people to testify.
Municipal association says cities, towns unfairly blamed for housing problem.
The below bills are currently being monitored by the NH Coalition of Taxpayers. Tell your state reps you want zoning and housing, left local.
Bill: HB399 - Title: establishing a commission to study the New Hampshire zoning enabling act.
Bill: SB90 - Title: allowing high-density residential development on land zoned for commercial use.
Bill: SB163 - Title: prohibiting local moratoria and limitations on building permits.
Bill: SB174 - Title: prohibiting planning boards from considering the number of bedrooms a given unit or development has during the hearing and approval process.
Bill: SB175 - Title: relative to the use of covenants by municipalities.
Bill: SB281 - Title: prohibiting municipalities from denying building or occupancy permits for property adjacent to class VI roads under certain circumstances.
Bill: SB283 - Title: relative to the calculation of floor-area-ratios under local building ordinances
ASSERTION BRINGS ACCOUNTABILITY. VERY LITTLE ASSERTION UP IN CONCORD.
